Don't Miss These Events in Lancaster

The AQS staff is already in Lancaster and setting up the show at the Lancaster County Convention Center.

Put these things on your "must do" list to make your experience at the AQS Quilt Show in Lancaster a memorable one:

1. There will be quilts and vendors on three floors of the convention center. Contests quilts and two special exhibits are in Freedom Hall; A Perfect Journey exhibit by Karen Kay Buckley is on Level 2 in the Commonwealth Ballroom, and the Botswana Collection - Fiber Revolution & Kalahari Quilts and the AQS Authors' Exhibit are on Level 3 in the Heritage Ballroom. Be sure you visit all three floors at the convention center!

2. There will be a special quilting bee with artisans from the Mennonite Information Center and Lancaster textile artisans at the Lancaster Quilt and Textile Museum, 37 N. Market Street - a short walk from the convention center. There is also a special exhibition coordinated by the museum and Franklin and Marshall College exploring the connection between the quilts collected by Doug Tompkins, founder of the Esprit Corporation, and the fashions produced by Esprit in the 1980s. Special hours during the quilt show are: Monday - Friday, 9am to 7pm, and Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Admission is $6.00.

3. The Quilt Museum at The Old Country Store, 3510 Old Philadelphia Pike in Intercourse, will have special hours during the quilt show: Monday/Tuesday, 9am to 5pm; Wednesday/Thursday, 9am to 8pm; Friday, 9am to MIDNIGHT; and Saturday, 9am to 8pm; closed Sunday. See A Showcase of Quilts: Dazzling Contemporary Creations exhibit, plus Innovative Scrap Quilts by Elsie M. Campbell, who will also have a special book signing from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday with guided museum tours. Midnight Madness is on Friday until midnight, with special drawings between 9 and 11pm.

4. The Ricky Tims Concert is from 7 - 8:30pm on Friday evening in the Chapel at the Lancaster Bible College, 901 Eden Road. This will be a fun evening with humor, quilt stories, and music. Tickets are $15. There is free parking near the Chapel.
