Lottery Rooms at the Executive Inn

We have been receiving messages about the hotel lottery asking what is happening with the money you paid. Your checks were sent to the Executive Inn and were cashed by its owner, Bhupinder Singh.

The hotel is in the process of being sold to a new corporation. Until the closing is held on that transfer of title, neither AQS nor the new owners can do anything about your hotel rooms. Believe me, we are as distressed about all of this as you are and are working with the new owners to expedite confirming the hotel rooms as soon as that closing takes place. It is now in the hands of the attorneys who are preparing the legal documents for the transfer of the hotel.

We pray that is is not much longer before that closing can be accomplished. There are other planning activities that can't be resolved until that happens too.

Please hang in there with us.

Surely, even if the closing of the sale does go through, it is much too late for some of us who obviously have to say bye bye to our lottery deposits and any hope of accommodation for the show. If it isn't hard enough to cope in these economic times, the final straw is to lose not only our deposits but money spent on airfares and other arrangements for a trip that we have looked forward to for a very long time.
Disillusioned patchworker.

I totally agree with disillusioned patchworker. My quilting friend and I had sent our money in last July, as we are coming from Australia its very difficult when you have to book international flights and connections and not even sure if you have a room because no one can tell you. By rights the previous owner Mr Singh should not have banked peoples monies if he could not honor the deal. Very unhappy Aussie quilter

Yes indeed. Inquiring minds want to know. Will Bill Parsons and Space Coast Hospitality give us the option of opting out and getting our money refunded? Seriously, there are only 10 weeks left until the quilt show. How the heck are we supposed to make plans? I have no intention of booking airfare (if I even can at the last minute) until I know for a fact that I have a place to stay. I know this is all pending closing on the property but closing has been going to "happen any day now" since early October.

And why the heck have criminal charges not been filed against Bhupinder Singh? He deposited our money knowing full well that days later he would lock the doors to the Inn and walk away. How is that not fraud?

The longer this drags on the angrier people are getting. It doesn't help that AQS adopts this we don't know anything and it will all work out attitude.

I do know one thing for certain. I will not be renewing my AQS membership when it expires, and I will NEVER attend any other AQS sponsored event.

We have paid for our room at the executive in full. Should the accommodations be poor or not available, wouldn't AQS be the ones who would be responsible for getting the money back if Singh fail to return it?

I have invited a guest, who was excited about the trip, and now what do I do? Plane faire is also nonrefundable- we will get to Paducah but may not have a place to stay - this is 6 nights. What do you suggest we do about it now! I am sure all hotels in the area are booked.

Mr. Singh has approximately $300,000 that he accepted fraudently from quilters. Get together, get an attorney, and file suit against him, the new owners and AQS. I include AQS because they sent the email to their members promoting the room lottery. This is fraud and theft. Don't sit in Australia or wherever and whine about it. Do something. Contact the Kentucky State Attorney General's office and see what your options are. Here is the contact information:

I think we all need to calm down about these rooms. I also have money tied up and am concerned, but we don't need to do anything until March 15 which is the proposed closing date of the hotel. At that point we, and all of Paducah, have a big problem. If we all decend on the city with no rooms, I am sure AQS will have alternative plans. Quilters are a great bunch of folks and if we get lemons we can make great lemonaid. Of course at that point all parties will have to pick up the bill including Singh, Parsons and AQS. We all see a train wreck about to happen, but we can't do anything until the crash, which might not even happen.

Calm down? Are ya kiddin' me???? You really think AQS has an alternative plan? You're making me laugh! What ever that plan might be I'd LOVE to hear about it.

If you are still looking for a room, you can go to the Paducah visitors bureau website for information on their B&B program and stay in someone's home. I did this a few years ago and we stayed with a lovely retired teacher. She was very welcoming. The web site is: http://www.paducah.travel//forms/index.cfm?formID=5

You are missing the point. We have paid for a room in full-why should we put out more money for a B&B or other place! Bonnie says she is praying this works out. I think it's time to stop praying ,pull your head out of the sand, and at be honest with us. AQS makes a lot of money off quilters and we need to show our displeasure with our checkbooks and warn our fellow quilters to be wary!

We in Paducah are sickened by this. I am a 32 yo male, who knows no-one that quilts, but we depend on you all coming to paducah every year. We citizens of Paducah pray that all will be taken care of soon and you all will be pleased with our hotels in the future
